Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta was founded in 1979 and is now an icon for Bristol. This year was the 33rd Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, held at Ashton Court on the edge of Bristol. The event is a world-class hot air ballooning festival and sees around half a million people from all across the country gather for this huge free outdoor event.

This year’s Bristol International Balloon Fiesta followed the theme ‘Made in Bristol’, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Cameron Balloons, the world’s largest hot air balloon manufacturer. Events included a live demonstration by Cameron Balloons of how a hot air balloon is built and a collection of older hot air balloons that demonstrated the advances and developments of hot air balloons over the last 4 decades.

The weather held up and several mass balloon ascents took place over the weekend, as well as the famous hot air balloon night glows, choreographed to huge hit songs of the last 40 years.
