To raise money for Cash for Kids, a great charity that supports children who have been forced to run away from home, Kerrang! Radio organised an afternoon of sponsored bungee jumps at the West Midlands Water Ski Centre. Members of the public were invited to raise a minimum of £150 sponsorship money each to secure their place at the event. To support this great charity and to complete a personal goal, our own Dan Wheatley decided to sign himself up!

Dan and Kirsty both travelled to the West Midlands Water Ski Centre on the drizzly grey morning of Saturday 5th November where everything had been set up by UK Bungee Club. Everyone was buzzing with both excitement and nerves, including Dan. All the participants seemed to thoroughly enjoy their bungee jumps, although there were a lot of screams! Dan enjoyed it so much he would of had another go given the chance!

The Alsager Round Table event is typically held on the Saturday closest to the November 5, or the night itself if it falls on a weekend. This year saw the event take place on the Saturday evening in the fields adjacent to The Plough on Crewe Road, Alsager, and thousands of local people came along to enjoy the festivities.

The bonfire is the Round Table’s biggest fund-raising event of the year and raises thousands of pounds for the local community. The Plough host the event free of charge every year and make a generous donation to the Alsager Round Table Charity Fund.

Over £5,000 of professional fireworks and 6 lorry loads of timber were part of the preparation for this year’s Bonfire Night event.

The final Red Bull Mini Drome event of 2011 took place on 22nd October at the Victoria Baths in Manchester. The event saw over 100 riders take on the world’s smallest velodrome, with a total track length of only 25 metres.

Hosted by trials bike legend Chris Akrigg and British Paralympics cycling team coach Chris Fuber, this action-packed event consisted of a series of qualifiers, followed by head to head heats between the 32 fastest riders. The competition for 1st place was intense, with many spectacular crashes along the way!
Congratulations go to Janis Savickis who took third place, Ricky Crompton who took second place and Toms Alsbergs who took first place with a very impressive time of 34.769. The guys took home some amazing Charge bikes which had been painted bronze, silver and gold.

Bansky’s artwork has appeared throughout London and many other locations worldwide. These include Banksy’s hometown of Bristol.

On a recent trip to Bristol No Limits Photography, as big Banksy fans, searched the city to photograph as many original Banksy artworks as they could find. Big thanks to bristol-street-art.co.uk whose city street art map made our tour of the city much easier!

The brainchild of YouTube sensation Danny MacAskill, the Red Bull Street Light Sessions have been created to give street trials enthusiasts the opportunity to see the pros in action, as well as trying out a range of Inspired Bicycles on purpose-built courses and get some tuition from the pros themselves.

The second of the Red Bull Street Light Sessions was held at the River Street Developments in the centre of Manchester. A purpose-built course was set-up at the venue, designed by Martyn Ashton, utilising several levels of an unfinished multi-storey building. A large group of pros came along for the event to demonstrate street trials style, to provide tuition and to compete for a £500 prize in a competition for best trick and ride of the evening. The competition was judged by Mongoose rider and six times national bike trial champion Chris Akrigg. Chris would usually be competing himself, but had to sit it out after sustaining injuries from a fall off a 40ft cliff in a recent video shoot.
As with the Bristol event, the rain during the evening didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and the pros riders displayed a wide range of tricks and stunts including a back flip from Martyn Ashton and some amazing jumps up to the second storey. There were also plenty of amateurs having a go on the course using the Inspired Bikes available or their own bikes that they’s brought along for the evening. No Limits Photography are always willing to get involved too so our own Dan Wheatley had a go on one of the Inspired Bikes!

The competition was won by 27-year-old Ali Clarkson, known as ‘Ali C’, who displayed a ‘no fear’ approach throughout the evening.

Bristol, hometown of the infamous Banksy, and known as a centre for urban art is now also home to the See No Evil project. See No Evil is Europe’s biggest permanent street art project. Some of the world’s leading street artists came together in Nelson Street in Bristol to create the street art in August 2011. Artists included New York based Tats Cru, LA street artist El Mac and Bristol born Inkie.

The street art at Nelson Street has recently come under critism from Conservative Group Leader, Councillor Peter Abraham who claims that it is ‘quite hideous’ – many Bristolians have been quick to argue this point with the Councillor, fiercely defending the city’s street art culture.
